Field Facilities Engineer
THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Field Facilities Engineer is responsible for providing on site technical support to our thermal heavy oil projects. The role will ensure plant and field equipment and processes are optimized to maximize equipment capacities and minimize operating costs.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
• Provide on site mechanical and process technical support to Operations and Maintenance groups
• Monitor plant and equipment performance and reliability to identify opportunities for improvement
• Provide mentorship to the group’s EITs (Engineers in Training)
• Identify and quantify the value of upgrade/ optimization opportunities
• Coordinate the design and construction of identified upgrades associated with our thermal heavy oil projects:
o Develop and approve design
o Size equipment
o Estimate costs
o Economics
o Manage construction and cost control
• Assist with scoping and design review of larger Capital projects that are coordinated by the Calgary Facilities Engineering group
• Ensure adherence to development goals, operational experience, and equipment specifications and standards
• Ensure all existing facilities and new construction projects comply with regulatory requirements
• Work with Thermal Exploration and Exploitation groups to review development issues and plans and perform evaluations of facilities to best meet those goals
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Typically 5+ years of industry experience with Engineering Degree or equivalent
• Professional Engineer or Professional Licensee designation with APEGA
• Demonstrated experience and understanding of:
o Heavy oil treating, water treating, steam generation, and heat integration
o Safety and design standards and environmental regulations
o Design and operation of Thermal Production facilities
This position will be based at our Wolf Lake plant near Bonnyville / Cold Lake and requires residency in the Bonnyville or Cold Lake Alberta area.
