Product Engineer
Review customer inquiries, prepare proposals, and design “oil field” process equipment packages, and often take a lead role directing the activities of other team members.
Primary Activities:
1. Evaluate customer inquiries and specifications to determine the best process or equipment design for the application. This includes determining the required scope of work to be provided and developing the best strategy to win the technical proposal.
2. Review Customer specifications, and design equipment to match specifications or clearly define differences (clarifications or exceptions list) to Customer.
3. Create PFD’s and P&ID’s.
4. Perform upstream equipment process design and mechanical design. (Separators, dehydrators and desalters)
5. Perform line sizing calculations.
6. Select and locate control equipment.
7. Recommend control valve types and define PSV sizing basis.
8. Develop cause and effect charts and participate in client HAZOP or lead internal HAZOP.
9. Produce Installation, Operating and Maintenance Instruction manuals.
10. Develop equipment data sheets and estimate equipment weights.
11. Develop “deliverables” for cost estimating, design engineering, and drafting.
12. Coordinate, review and approve estimating activities of the various departments involved with the proposal to prepare the cost estimate.
13. Submit technical proposals that include a clear definition of the scope of supply, equipment performance, warranty, and delivery. Present the proposal in a way that positively enhances CAMERON’s position to receive the order.
14. Confirm compliance with the customer’s purchase order regarding the proposal technical and process requirements.
15. Provide technical support for trouble shooting.
16. Perform on site start-up and / or troubleshooting.
Job Requirements/ Qualifications Knowledge Requirements:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Gas, Petroleum, Process, or Mechanical Engineering with over 8 years experience in the design and selection of process equipment for the Oil and Gas Industry.
2. In depth knowledge of national and international codes and standards for oil field process equipment design, shop fabrication procedures, inspection and NDE requirements, shipping preparation and terms, and field installation and start-up procedures.
3. Competent in process equipment design and sizing.
4. Hands on experience with field start-up and troubleshooting experience of systems produced. (This is a plus)
5. Clear understanding of the various raw material types, grades and selection criteria.
Skills Requirements:
1. Ability to develop process / equipment scheme and layout from conceptual design basis considering operability, maintenance and safety.
2. Ability to produce process flow diagrams and P&ID’s.
3. Ability to size lines, control valves, PSV’s.
4. Knowledge of all materials of construction and their application.
5. Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, Division 1 and 2 and ASME B31.3.
6. Working knowledge of applicable API guidelines.
7. Ability to convey mechanical design details to drafting personnel for the preparation of fabrication and layout drawings considering operability, maintenance and safety.
8. Ability to verify vessel designs from perspectives of cost, fabrication, operation, and maintenance.
9. Ability to educate Customers on the advantages of CAMERON equipment.
10. Ability to work cooperatively with various company departments associated with designing, estimating, fabricating, operating, and selling this equipment.
11. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, organized and confident.
12. Ability to utilize Word, Excel, Powerpoint and engineering design programs.
