Mechanical Engineer
• Review customer applicable specifications to confirm design compliance for the application. (Request clarifications or provide exceptions list).
• Create “Design Basis” document specific to the particular project. The document is based on the applicable Codes, client specifications, Cameron scope of supply, and approved exception list.
• Perform ASME Code VIII-1/2 calculations with all applicable design loads and design combinations in accordance with the “Design Basis”.
• With all applicable design loads and combinations, including tie-down, lifting, jacking up, etc., perform vessel support design and design of lifting devices, as required.
• With all applicable design loads and combinations, perform structural weld sizing as required.
• If applicable, perform a fatigue analysis of the vessel, (using FE-Pipe or other software).
• With all applicable design loads and combinations, perform structural member and weld sizing for vessel internal supports, as required.
• Coordinate with Drafting Department to identify locations of nozzles, supports and other vessel attachments.
• Provide necessary dimensional sketches and engineering instructions to Drafting Department, as required.
• Assist in providing necessary design information to an engineering contractor, as required.
• Review and approve, as required, subcontractor calculations and drawings to ensure compliance with client specifications or applicable standards.
• Assist other locations and branches with mechanical / structural engineering design, as required.
• Provide preliminary vessel and structural beam weights.
• Review vessel drawings and re-run calculations, as required, to ensure conformity.
• Provide input to the “Lessons learned” process
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting.
• Check the work by others as required.
Job Requirements/ Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering

PREFERRED CANDIDATE
The preferred candidate will have
Working Knowledge of ASME B&PV Code VIII-1
8-10 years experience in the design of oil, gas or water related Process Equipment.
LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE
To be considered for this position the selected candidate should possess the following.
• Engineering degree with 8-10 years of relevant experience within the oil and gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of international mechanical design codes and programs commonly used in the petroleum industry.
• Knowledge of fabrication techniques for vessels, piping and structure etc, and also the associated testing techniques and established industry QC requirements.
• General knowledge of oil and gas production, hydrocarbon processing and oil/water separation.
• Some knowledge of structural and/or pipe stress design and analysis.
• Experience in personal computers, spreadsheets and word processing as well as good written and verbal communication skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Mechanical Engineer will be required to communicate in English in both written and verbal form.
