NAVAL ARCHITECT
The following duties and responsibilities are essential. Other duties may be assigned.

• Strives for continuous improvement in worker safety and is dedicated to ensuring that each employee understands, and acts in accordance with, the company’s HSE policies.
• Works with high integrity and complies with corporate guidelines on business ethics.
• Receives assignment from supervisor.
• Determines the hull form, watertight subdivision, and down-flooding locations for new jack-up designs.
• Calculates the stability characteristics of existing jack-up designs.• Prepares an incline and/or deadweight survey agenda prior to each jack-up rig’s stability test.
• Travel, 1 – 2 week trips every 2 – 4 months.
• Witnesses the stability test for jack-up rigs built at licensed shipyards throughout the world and calculates and reports the results.
• Works with the weight control group to develop estimates of lightship weight and center of gravity.
• Works with the structural group to assess and document performance criteria of the jack-up.
• Prepares the Marine Operations Manual for new jack-up rigs.
• Liaisons with the Classification and Regulatory bodies with respect to the approval of the jack-ups stability, lightship results and Operations Manuals.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.S.E.) or equivalent from a four-year engineering college or university required with study concentrated in Naval Architecture, Marine and/or Ocean Engineering preferred.
Certificates, Licenses or other Registrations:
None.
Candidate must possess excellent communication skills (written & verbal in english.
Tools, Technology and Equipment:
• Proficient in MS Office system.
• Working knowledge of vessel stability & proficient with a stability calculation program (e.g. StabCAD, GHS and/or HecSalv).
• Familiarity with either FEA, CFD, Vessel Motions or machinery systems software packages.
• Familiarity with publication software such as MS Publisher and Adobe Acrobat.
