ENGINEER
SUMMARY PROFILE:
This position designs and develops powertrain and other components for machinery. Position is also responsible for providing design engineering support for purchasing, production, sales, and service as related to the equipment. Additional responsibilities may include troubleshooting and testing equipment, obtaining and maintaining equipment certifications, communicating with Classification and regulatory bodies, representing company to industry, and establishing and upholding company design standards.

• Performs product development activities including interpretation and implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements.
• Performs the design, layout, testing and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems.
• Produces design calculations.
• Checks calculations done by others.
• Prepares component, material, and product specifications.
• Generates Bills of Materials.
• Creates or reviews schematics, models, and drawings.
• Assists designers and drafters in developing product models and drawings.
• Ensures other departments have the prints necessary to perform their duties with respect to equipment design, procurement or production support.
• Submits documentation for Classification and Regulatory Body Certification (where applicable).
• Stays abreast of industry standards and Classification and regulatory rules and regulations.
• Prepares work & test instructions.
• Documents the project.
• Provides technical support to purchasing, planning, production and quality control.
• Supports marketing, sales and service.
• Provides existing product line support in design activities and /or modification of hardware in production

Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Engineering from accredited four-year college or university required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
Tools, Technology and Equipment
• Ability to use CAD and CAM software required.
• Ability to use ERP systems required.
• Ability to effectively use design tools such as MathCAD required.
Language Skills
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, technical papers, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Ability
• Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
• Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
Other Skills and Abilities
• Ability to create schematics, bills of material, specifications, customer and manufacturing documentation.
• Ability to perform appropriate detailed engineering calculations and analyses to support designs.
• Excellent communication
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills in order to manage multiple projects.
• Excellent attention to detail.
