Electrical Engineer

As the Electrical Engineer – Engine Systems you will be responsible for vehicle / engine interface requirements and system design.  Works cross functionally to ensure vehicles and engines are designed to meet functional objectives.


    * Works with cross-functional, global engineering team to document requirements for engine interfaces on agricultural and construction equipment.
    * Understands  and documents vehicle functionality and how engines interact with vehicle functionality.  Understands modern diesel engine technology, including aftertreatment (DPF & SCR), reductant delivery, and inducement strategies.  Familiar with global emissions and diagnostic regulations.  Uses this knowledge to develop engine system architecture which meets the documented vehicle requirements.
    * Participates in the verification of documented vehicle / engine requirements.
    * Works with engine vendors (internal and third party) to implement required functionality.
    * Develops  and documents software interface and hardware (e.g. control modules, instrument clusters, displays, aftertreatment system sensors and actuators) requirements.  Participates in supplier selection process.
    * Develops and documents vehicle network protocols and works with suppliers to integrate these protocols.
    * Participates in engine system warranty analysis and cost reduction, development of corrective action plans.
    * Works with manufacturing plant to develop end-of-line programming and configuration plan.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related Master’s degree preferred. 5-7 years Professional engineering background in product development. 3+ years’ experience designing, calibrating or integrating diesel engines in an automotive, commercial vehicle, or off road vehicle. Understanding of vehicle network communication. Understanding of EE Systems Engineering Process, Vee model preferred.

Assets: Experience with CAN bus, SAE J1939, KWP2000, UDS protocols. Experience with vehicle network analyzer tools such as Vector Canalyzer. Experience with Calibration and Measurement tools such as dSpace Caldesk, ETAS Inca. Understanding of software engineering processes, automotive, commercial vehicle or off-road vehicle software Experience preferred.  Including Unit and Integration test. Experience designing, calibrating, or integrating diesel aftertreatment systems, e.g. DPF, DOC, SCR. Experience designing, calibrating, or integrating diagnostic systems. Experience designing, calibrating, or integrating vehicle control systems (e.g. automotive, commercial vehicle, off-road vehicle). Understanding of engine emissions development processes, including dyno calibration, vehicle calibration, Design-of-Experiments, emission measurement, performance characteristics, performance trade offs. Understanding of global emissions and diagnostic regulations and certification processes. Experience with troubleshooting of electro-mechanical systems.Experience with Model Based Software development in a production environment using MathWorks (Simulink, Stateflow, Real-Time Workshop, Embedded Coder) Experience developing embedded software using C/C++. Supplier management experience Experience with Requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS. Ability to interact and mentor cross functional teams in different locations.
