Solutions Engineer HS

Overview

The Solutions Engineer consults for both large and small scale software system configurations and performs onsite installation and training services for implementation of Agilysys software and resold hardware products. The Solution Engineer can operate as an installation team member where they will report to the Project Lead and/or Project Manager. This position can also operate as a Project Lead on small to mid size engagements. As a project lead, the Solution Engineer must be able to efficiently manage the planning and communication of assigned projects, communicate professionally to co-workers/project stake holders/customers, learn new products and processes quickly, balance multiple priorities and projects, manage project resources, ensure project budgets & timelines, and have a solid understanding of Agilysys products (hardware and software) in all vertical markets. The Solution Engineer will also provide high level consultation on customer operational and system designs.
Responsibilities

    *
      Consult with Project Management (internal & customer) regarding operational considerations and configuration of systems to support customer requirements. Make recommendations to utilize full advantages of Agilysys product line while minimizing operational loss.
    *
      Identify and manage possible scope creep, ensure Project Management awareness, and provide solutions for issues resulting in project change.
    *
      Prepare detailed installation schedules outlining daily work load, ownership and timeline risks for assigned projects.
    *
      Gather site requirements, technically review and recommend operational design as it pertains to installation preparedness to Project Management.
    *
      Delegate and supervise project assignments of project team and customer personnel.
    *
      Configure and test software components in order to maximize efficiency and provide operational consistency. Test integrity of network communications surrounding software system.
    *
      Provide end user training covering Agilysys software products installed at customer sites.
    *
      Monitor live operations by providing end user assistance for the Agilysys product line implemented at customer sites.
    *
      Coordinate with the Operations Management team to develop processes, procedures, and documentation to enhance our installation and training services and technical support staff training programs.

Requirements

Education and Work experience:

    *
      Bachelor's degree in related field and/or equivalent work experience in an information technology/systems field.
    *
      5 - 7 years installation/IT experience.
    *
      Minimum of 2 years document imaging system experience.
    *
      Good understanding of general business practices covering all departments (AP, AR, Materials Management, HR, Marketing, etc...).
    *
      Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with dedication to customer service. - Must be able to speak clearly and effectively in front of audiences that could be up to 30 or more people.
    *
      Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server as well as SQL queries.
    *
      Fundamental knowledge of the IBM iSeries, OS400 operating system, and DB2.
    *
      Advanced knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and network architecture including Active Directory and Workgroup configurations.
    *
      Advanced knowledge of Microsoft IIS/FTP.
    *
      Advanced software troubleshooting skills and ability to effectively communicate detailed issue descriptions to software development and/or quality assurance teams.
    *
      Ability to lift 30 pounds and perform job duties while standing for extended periods of time.
    *
      Available to travel up to 50%.
    *
      Have or be able to obtain a valid passport for international travel.

Desired Qualifications:

    *
      Hands on experience with FileClerk, e.FileClerk, RFileManager, and/or DataMagine Software.
    *
      Project management experience.
    *
      Experience with Point Of Sale, Property Management, and/or Accounting software systems.
    *
      Experience with Microsoft Visual Basic or C++.
    *
      Significant experience in hospitality industry and/or with document imaging software.
    *
      CDIA certification.
