Corporate Manager of Environmental Health and Safe
Overview:

Responsibilities:
This position will:
• Design and deliver safety training to all plant employees (hourly, management, support)
• Continue to develop and deliver a comprehensive, global safety program
• Work with Best in Class benchmark companies to continuously improve safety performance
• Promote a positive safety culture
• Analyze and recommend actions to improve Workers Compensation costs
• Work with EH&S professionals (OSHA, ISO, Insurance industry, etc.) to improve safety
• Develop EH&S expertise and leadership in key A.M. Castle & Co. plants
• Design and implement EH&S monitoring and audit programs
• Understand EH&S requirements in all the countries the Metals Group operates in and ensure all legal and ethical obligations are being met
• Negotiate all enforcement actions, notices of violation, informal settlement agreements, administrative orders and permit agreements with local, state and federal governmental environmental agencies
• Represent the company on all contested OSHA enforcement actions, citations, informal conferences and settlement agreements
• Assess the impact of safety, health and environmental laws and regulations as they affect the company and its operations; as well as, track new regulations as they develop. Formulate and implement policies, procedures and programs for compliance.
* Work as part of the Castle team to improve the security of our facilities, people, and capital assets.
Qualifications:
• B.S. degree in safety, environmental science, engineering, industrial management or similar field, or equivalent
• Professional Safety Certification (CSP) preferred
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent team-building skills with demonstrated abilities in safety leadership and/or managing a safety program in an industrial environment
• Good organizational skills
• Strong influencing skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to initiate and sustain productive business relationships
• Strong analytical abilities and organization skills
• Excellent project management skills, including the identification and scheduling of project deliverables, milestones, tasks, and deadlines
• Ability to effectively work across a broad spectrum of functions within Castle business units
• Solid presentation and negotiation skills with ability to present technical information and concepts in order to initiate change and drive initiatives across the organization
• Good problem-solving skills with ability to develop new ideas in order to provide innovative solutions
• 7-9 years of progressive EH&S management experience in a $1B industrial company
• Very in-depth knowledge of the EH&S field, including governmental, legal, and Best in Class companies
• Proven working knowledge of safety and environmental regulations
