The flip: India outsources in the US
US will probably see a rise in the number of available jobs with Indian companies now hiring within the nation.
The new story is that Indian comparing are now outsourcing jobs within the United States of America. This comes at a time when companies within the global giant are facing increasing pressure from the U.S. authorities and are now hiring locally. This trend has been further fuelled by the fact that newer visa regulations are making it increasingly difficult for Indian companies based in America to easily hire from India.
What it means for the job market in the U.S. is that, now, more jobs are being created locally, for local talent. In fact, many I.T. and software firms of Indian origin are training students at various universities in order to later absorb them within their organizational structure. Tata Consultancy Services is one such company that has increased the number of people it hires from within the US. The firm increased the cap to 25% thereby creating substantial avenues for Americans to find jobs.
Job creation was one of keystones of second-time President, Barack Obama’s campaign. He has constantly hinted upon the fact that job opportunities within the U.S. should be more favorable for the citizens and not for outsiders. In this wake, companies are facing ongoing criticism for outsourcing their job opportunities to booming economies such as, India and China. Therefore, the fact that Indian companies operating from U.S. soil is giving more preference to a job application by an American is not exactly an unheard of phenomenon.
The fact that outsourcing is now being reversed in the U.S means that the situation for an Indian trying to find jobs within India will become even more challenging. This rings true because a huge chunk of job opportunities within India are created by outsourcing. Therefore, decreasing the amount of jobs that are sent to India will have a direct impact on the Indian job market. What it will also impact is the business relationship that the two countries share. The Obama administration seems committed to the cause of retaining jobs within the country thereby creating more job opportunities. India Inc. on the other hand seems not too happy with this trend with the Indian government in fact, raising the issue with its US counterpart.
The fact that there are scores of renowned Indian companies that have a marked presence in the United States and that they are now hiring within the country will help many find jobs. This can only mean good news or the US economy where unemployment has been a major roadblock in the path of its success.
