Master of Museum Studies
A Master of Arts in Museum Studies degree program prepares individuals for jobs managing museums and collections, and educating the public about the role of museums in our culture. Students in this type of program will be introduced to all aspects of museums, including their history in society. It is meant to prepare graduates to go on to work in art museums, zoos, federal agencies or other non-profit institutions. Coursework and internship experience is geared to cover all areas relating to the management and operation of museums, such as community education and outreach, exhibits, curatorial research and administration. Some colleges and universities offer this type of program as a concentration within a Master of Arts in History or Master of Arts in Liberal Studies degree.
